In this tutorial Photoshop, we'll see how you can impress your friends, family or clients your amazing art skills without using a light pencil converting any photo to sketch in just six easy steps.
Several duplicated layers and keyboard hot Kei , blending mode , Gaussian blur filter about one minute of your day - that's all that's required.
So let's begin. I'll be using Photoshop CS2, but any recent version of the program will work just as well .
Here is the photo that I will be using for this tutorial :
Step 1: Duplicate the background layer
In my pictures, open in Photoshop, I have one layer , the background , which contains my image :
The first step in creating a sketch effect - duplicate this layer , and the easiest way to do this - using keyboard hot Kay , Ctrl + J (Win) / Command + J (Mac). This will give me my copy of the background layer , as we can see in the Layers palette :
Tip: Layers Palette now with two layers after copy of the background layer .
Step 2: Desaturate the layer
The second step is discolored, the newly created layer ( Photoshop called "Layer 1"). Now there are many ways to get professional-quality converted to black and white images, but it's completely kill the thing for which we all do it . All we need - a quick way to remove the color from the image and the fastest way to do it - desaturate the image using keyboard hot Okay , Shift + Ctrl + U (Win) / Shift + Command + U (Mac).
Tip: Use the keyboard hot Kei to quickly remove the color from the image .
Step 3: Copy the discolored layer
Next, we need a copy of this desaturated layer, so again , let's use the hot Okay - Ctrl + J (Win) / Command + J (Mac):
Tip: Use the keyboard hot Kei again and snovachtoby quickly duplicate discolored layer .
Step 4: Invert the layer
Now that we have a copy of the discolored layer , we need to invert it - it basically means that we are going to exchange the light and dark areas , the black was white , white is black , the darker shades of gray become lighter and lighter became darker. Again , we can use it for hot Okay , Ctrl + I (Win) / Command + I (Mac). This will give us a picture that looks like a "negative " version of the image :
Tip: Invert the image by using a hot kei "Ctrl + I" (Win) / "Command + I" (Mac)
Step 5: Change the Blending Mode ( Blend Mode ) inverted layer to 'Color Dodge'
On the top layer ( inverted ) is still selected in the Layers palette , change the blend mode ( Blend Mode ) for this layer to "Normal" to "Color Dodge". You can do this by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the word "Normal" at the top of the Layers palette and selecting "Color Dodge" from the drop down list:
Turn your photo into a sketch *
Tip: Change the blend mode ( mixed mode ) for the inverted layer from Normal to Color Dodge.
This will temporarily turn the White degree image
Hint : The picture now seems crowded white
Step 6: Apply a Gaussian Blur layer Color Dodge
And we're on the sixth step , the final step and give us a sketch effect . All we need to do at this point - to apply Gaussian Blur to the layer with the Color Dodge.
To do this with a layer of Color Dodge ( top layer ) selected in the Layers palette , click the Menu mode filter in the top of the screen , vyyurat Blur and then select Gaussian Blur from the list of filters for Blur :
Turn your photo into a sketch *
Tip : Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur
This will open a dialog box Gaussian Blur:
Hint: Gaussian Blur dialog box
The key to achieving good effect here is a sketch setting radius at the bottom of the dialog box the Gaussian Blur, as long as your image is not like the sketch. The easiest way to readjust - click on the scroll bar near the bottom and pull it to his myshyu.Kak you can see in my previous screenshot, preview, Gaussian Blur dialog box will not be very useful because it still shows the inverted image , so you'll want to check local listings for image that you drag the radius to the left and right. Generally speaking , the lower radius works better. If you put too much weight , you overdo it and lose the effect.
I use a low-resolution image for this tutorial , so for me , the value of the radius of about 1 pixel will give me a good effect sketcha.Vy will most likely have to edit images with a much higher resolution , and in that case , you will need to use a radius of about 4 or 5 that it has given you the desired results .
Here again the original photo , before we started to work for the sake of effect :
Hint : This picture as it was originally when opening in Photoshop
And here is the result of my sketch effect :
Hint: Photos converted to a sketch.
If you're happy with your sketch , you can stop at this step. If you have found , as I did with his own image , that sketch is too light and it can be a bit dim to add him better contrast , quit after prozozhdeniya the next few steps. Do not worry, they only add a few seconds to work time .
Step 7 ( optional): Merge all layers into a single layer
On the top layer , which is still selected , use the keyboard hot Okay Shift + Ctrl + Alt + E (Win) / Shift + Command + Option + E (Mac) to quickly stick all your layers in the Layers palette into a new layer on top of the column :
Tip: Use the keyboard to quickly kei hot glue all the layers into a new layer on top.
Step 8 (Optional ) Change the blend mode layer bonded to 'Multiply'
Take a new layer glued selected in the Layers palette , go back to the blend mode option, and this time , change the blending mode from "Normal" to "Multiply":
Tip: In the glued layer (top) is selected in the Layers palette , change its blending mode to Multiply.
Multiply blending mode makes everything darker , and since you have chosen to Multiply for skleenognogo layer , your sketch will become darker , giving it a better contrast .
Step 9 ( Optional) : Fine tune the opacity , lowering the opacity
If you believe that your sketch is now too dark, you can easily adjust the brightness to suit your taste by reducing the opacity of the glued sloya.Prosto go to the opacity in the upper right corner of the Layers Palette , move your mouse directly through word "Opacity", which converts your image mouse "scrubby sliders" Photoshop'a, and then click and drag your mouse to the left to reduce the neprozrachnost.U less than the Opacity to 60 % :
Tip: Reduce the opacity of the glued layer ( the layer blending mode set to Multiply) to adjust how much it adds to your darkening effect of the sketch.
This is my result:
Hint: Our result .
