This tutorial will show you how you can create amazingly beautiful flaming sword.
Before we begin, let's look at what we got in the end. This is done by using a very easy method.
Step 1: Create a new document and put our picture in the center. A picture can be downloaded from here.(http://www.sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=download&id=457779)
Step 2: The main color of the image is blue, but I do not like it, so I changed it Image> Adjustments> Levels to select the Blue Channel and set the parameters as shown.
Step 3: We make a brighter picture for this, go Image> Curves.
And we get:
Step 4: Press Ctrl-J and duplicate the layer, then go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur and set the radius of 5 pixels.
Step 5: We will turn this layer into a glowing light around the sword. We go to Filter> Stylize> Glowing Edges and set the following parameters:
And now our sword glows.
Step 6: Change the blending layer to Screen and our photo takes the following form:
Step 7: If we want to make a glow effect more impressive go Filter> Distort> Ocean Ripple and set the following parameters:
Remember, if you do not put the duplicated layer blending mode to Scree, then do not get this effect.
Step 8: In order to change the color of the light going to Image> Adjustments> Hue / Saturation. Use these settings to change the color to red smile.gif
Here's what happens
Step 9: Take a small soft brush (low hardness) and erase the light from the handle of the sword.
Step 10: Now we will add fire to our shining sword.
Paste it onto a new layer and set the blending mode to Screen and we will see that the black background will disappear.
Step 11: Using the Transform tool (Edit> Transform) and Move tool in order to make the fire along the blade of the sword.
